Govt plans to introduce Diploma, Degree programs in TTC
As one of improving primary education, Government says the plans are in place to introduce the Diploma and Degree programs in the Teachers Training Colleges so that teachers under Initial Primary Teacher Education programme should be graduating with upon completion of their courses.
Director of Teacher’s Education in the Ministry, Misheck Munthali made the remarks at Chiradzulu Teachers Training College when 537 primary school teachers were graduating with their certificates after their two-year studies.
Munthali said it is high time education standards were improved from primary level.
“There will be Degree and diploma holders at Primary school training colleges. The reason is to improve on the quality of education in the country. This is in line with Malawi Education Reform Programme number three which aims at reforming qualifications for teachers training colleges,” said Munthali.
Currently, students graduate with certificates in training colleges open completion of their studies.
