DPP Leadership divisions concern Msaka
The Vice President for the Democratic Progressive Party in the Eastern Region, Bright Msaka has expressed his concern with the divisions in the Party.
He was speaking at the press briefing in Lilongwe at the Golden Peacock Hotel on Friday.
He said the disappointment if not rectified in time, will negatively affect the Party’s in the 2025 General Elections and he vowed to engage the leaders of the party to come up with solutions to discuss the disagreement amicably.
At the briefing, Msaka officially announced that he will contest for the Party’s Presidency at the convention next year.
He said Former President Peter Mutharika who is also President of DPP summoned all DPP Presidential aspirants to Mangochi for a meeting and he was among the team that was invited to the meeting.
“people have been pushing me to confirm if indeed am going to contest or not. So I can officially confirm that am going to contest on the position of President at the convention come next year,” said Msaka.
Msaka said that he is a law professional and an international relations expert and he has everything to take DPP to greater heights.
He vowed to work for the Malawians if voted for the Party’s Presidency and later the President of Malawi.
“Malawians are suffering from many challenges facing the country. There is pain and grief on faces of Malawians as they have no leader. The current government (Tonse Alliance government) is failing to address challenges facing the Nation. I will change Malawi and make the nation successful if am voted the President, ” added Msaka.
Among others, Msaka said he will put his concentration on sectors like Education, Health, economy and agriculture. He said he will bring back cooperation among Malawians and curb corruption that have sicken the country.
He vowed to bring the new Malawi as he will not be a biased leader and promised a Malawi for all.
Bright Msaka SC (Senior Counsel) is a Malawian politician, long serving diplomat, a former cabinet minister in different portfolios, former Secretary to the President and Cabinet for a period of 9 years. Msaka was born on 4th October 1959.
He is the current Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Eastern Region and a Member of Malawi Parliament for Machinga Likwenu Constituency.
Kondwani Nankhukwa, Dalitso Kabambe are some of the candidates vying for the Presidency of the party at the 2023 convention.
