Two arrested over robbery in Nsanje
Police in Nsanje have arrested two people suspected to have robbed Tengani Energem Filling Station and went away with money amounting to K38 million and 25 litres of Petro.
The incident happened during the night of Sunday August 7 2022 at Tengani Energem Filling Station in Nsanje District.
The suspects have been identified as Saidi Kachingwe, 45, from Chemusa Village in Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre and Edward Nkhoma, 32, from Thomas Village in Traditional Authority Changata in Thyolo District.
The two are alleged to have used a salon motor vehicle registration number BT10673 while armed with steal bars, panga knives and wooden sticks invaded Tengani Energem Filling Station where they attacked the security guard and fuel attendant.
The suspects tied the security guard and fuel attendant using linya ropes and later stole the said amount and 25 litres of Petro valued at K50,000,00.00.
After committing the crime, the suspects fled away using a salon motor vehicle heading Bangula direction.
Upon receipt of the matter, police visited the scene and launched a manhunt for the criminals leading to the arrest of two suspects while six are still at large.
Meanwhile, investigations are in progress to arrest the remaining six suspects.
