Murder suspect arrested in Nkhata Bay

Police in Nkhata Bay District are keeping in custody a 34-year-old Indien Julius Banda for allegedly stubbing James Ng’oma to death at Malaza trading centre in the district.

According to reports, Ng’oma was in the late hours of August 6, 2022 at a drinking joint with his friends.

Whilst at the place, Julius Banda the suspect, came and forcefully grabbed Ng’oma by his hands and pulled him aside.

Suddenly, other people who were at the place heard strange screaming, it was Ng’oma who was in agony after being stubbed in the chest by Banda for reasons not yet known.

He was pronounced dead at Chintheche Rural Hospital due to internal bleeding.

Immediately after the incident, angry villagers ganged up and searched for the suspect who escaped and hidden in his father’s kitchen.

They managed to apprehend him and brought him to Chintheche Police Post.

Banda who hails from Chimwaza Village, TA Malengamzoma in Nkhata Bay District, will appear in court soon to answer murder charges.
