Chitipa through to FDH Bank Cup quarterfinals

Chitipa United Football Club have become the first team to book the slot in the quarterfinals of the 2022 FDH Bank Cup after beating the Central Region based team, Kawinga FC on post-match penalties in the round of 16.

The two teams met at Nankhaka Stadium in Likongwe on Friday.

Kawinga stole the parity in the 10th minute through former Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder, Amadu Makawa. He converted from the 12 yards after being fouled by Chitipa United defender in the penalty area.

Chitipa United reacted by equalising just two minutes before halftime through Ken Mlenga.

Both teams made some changes in their quest to find the winner but things did go as planned and it ended in a one-all draw.

For Kawinga, Jauma Edward, Amadu Makawa, converted their penalties while Yona Mhango, Chisomo Hiwa and Dalisto Nahipa missed their penalties.

For Chitipa United, Peter Mghogo, Gideon Sululu and Bernard Kabola managed to convert their penalties while Happy Mwapashi and Alex Benson missed their penalties.

Actions continue tomorrow as Extreme FC face Kadona FC at Bingu National Stadium.
