Nkhatabay water project to held again
Nkhata-Bay Town Water and Sanitation Project may be held up for the second time following the washing away of a bridge on a diversion road that enabled vehicles to pass through since Chikale Bridge remains damaged.
This follows heavy rains in the district on Tuesday.
Roads Authority Spokesperson Portia Kajanga says for now they have no funds to construct a new bride.
“Currently, the Roads Authority does not have adequate budgetary provision for the construction of a new bridge, but it is anticipated that the 2023/2024 financial year will have a provision for the construction of a bridge,” she explained.
In the previous interview, Northern Region Water Board Spokesperson Edward Nyirenda said the projects’ deadline will remain unchanged despite bridge issues.
