Moyale Start Second Round on a High; Thump Tigers 3-1

It was a sweet revenge for the Kaning’ina based soldiers Moyale Barracks as on Saturday during the kickoff of the second round of the Tnm superleague after they comfortably beat Wakawaka Tigers with 3 goals to 1 at Mzuzu Stadium.

Gasten Simkonda who now registered his second league goal since recovering from a long tern injury opened the score sheet after receiving as Tigers defenders failed to clear in the 41 minute of the game.

Two minutes after Simkonda’s goal in 43 minuted another ball from left side was flicked by Simkonda finding Raphael Phiri who made no mistake but heading straight into the net.

In the second half Tigers came hard as l Alfred Sapanga pulled one back to give his side confidence of levelling the game.

But deep in the second half Moyale won a freekick on the edge of the box that Gasten Simkonda took it nicely with Maneno Nyoni heading to make it 3-1.

After the game, Moyale Barracks Coach Prichard Mwansa said winning against Tigers gives them courage in the last half of the Tnm superleague.

“Winning today we are very happy as Moyale family, you know the league is very tough, we were playing against a good team, starting with a win it’s another achievement to the club and a morale boost to the team,we will try as much as possible to do well each and every game,” said Mwansa.

Tigers coach Trevor Kajawa said the team lost concentration at times and it cost them silly goals in the very end of first half.

“My boys lost concentration and as you see it was last minutes of the first half when our opponents scored two goals, this is a very bad start though the guys are trying dispite losing the game,” he said.

With the win Moyale moves from position 9 to 8 with 20 points while are Tigers still with 13 points and on position 12.
