Two killed by mob in Lilongwe
An angry mob in Lilongwe has killed two people after accusing them of theft.
The murder occurred Sunday at Dickson Trading Centre in Traditional Authority Masula and within Likuni Parish Cemetery in Likuni Township.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the assailants.
In the first case, five suspects (name withheld) allegedly killed Luka Bikausi, aged 27, after accusing him of stealing maize.
The suspects, initially, brought Bikausi to his parents’ house claiming they wanted to search the kitchen for the maize he had stolen from one villager’s house.
And the search proved futile leading to the victim’s assault by his captors.
After the suspects left, the parents went into the kitchen and found their son dead.
Thawale Police Unit detectives accompanied by Dickson Health Centre personnel visited the murder scene.
Postmortem indicated that Bikausi’s death was due to severe loss of blood due to deep cuts.
In another case, an unidentified man was killed by a mob for allegedly stealing a Bluetooth speaker and some cash from Mr Chapola’s house at Mphampha Village in Likuni.
The man vanished into Likuni Parish Cemetery before he was caught by the mob and killed.
Police are also hunting for the killers to answer a murder charge.
Meanwhile, police have warned people against taking laws into their own hands.
