Moyale Barracks Hockey men’s team reached quarter finals of the FCB Super8 Hockey National Tournament that is taking place in Blantyre.

According to Moyale’s Edward Singini everything is going well as the men team has started well and want to win the cup.

“At first we were supposed to play NRC but our opponents didn’t show up so we corrected free points and 2 goals, secondly we played UNIMA the game that we won 3 nil with these points we qualified to the quarter finals,” said Singini.

Moyale men, NRC, UNIMA and Braves HC are in the same group and the Mzuzu based team will play Braves on Sunday to finish their first round robin matches.

In women category Moyale women started badly as they lost their first game against Capital Braves one nil, before drawing one all against Genetics getting one point from two games and on Sunday they will play two games and if they win they also have a chance to qualify to the next round.

The opening of the tournament was graced by FCB CEO, Malawi Olympic President Jappie Mhango, Malawi Sports Council’s Sunduzwayo Madise and others.
