Salima Sugar sweeten Dedza Dynamos, K48 million sponsorship deal signed
The Dedza based team, Dedza Dynamos has penned a seven month sponsorship contract with Salima Sugar Company effective July 1, 2022 to 31st January, 2023 worth Forty Eight Million Kwacha.
The Salima Sugar Company’s Secretary General Dr Charles Thupi, announced on June 28th, 2022 during the funeral ceremony of Dedza die-hard fan Akim Kondowole Magesh in Dedza that they will start sponsoring the club in honour of the late Magesh.
On Thursday, July 7th, 2022 the two parties signed their agreement and the Company has also bought naming rights which will see the team being called Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar Football Club.
Among others the package will be used for live streaming, promos and running of the club for the next seven months which will be provided in equal monthly installment.
Speaking after signing the agreement, Thupi said they want to take the club to another level despite that they are playing in the elite league for the first time in the club’s history.
“We will permit them the club to engage in the selling of our product to earn additional income for the club,” Thupi said.
Making his remarks, vice general secretary of the club Kondwani Wiseman Banda, said it’s a great honour for them as a club to have that sponsorship and it will motivate the team to do well in their debut season in the elite league.
“We will surely help the company in marketing their product using all possible means and for sure they are here to stay with us,” Wiseman said.
Beside the financial sponsorship, Salima Sugar will also provide high quality football kits, football boots, training and match balls including football necessary training equipments to the club.
The club will be required to help in promoting Salima Sugar brand and two players will be picked by the company to be the official ambassadors of the sugar.
Before the sponsorship deal, the club was depending on individual contributions for the running of the team with Mr Lewis Yumbe Msukwa as the main man behind the running of the club.
Dedza Dynamos FC, was established in 2017 and they participated in their first competition in 2018 in the Dedza Radio Bembeke League as they were crowned champions in the same season including winning the Presidential Cup at district level in the same year.
They then played in the Chipiku Premier Division in the 2019/2020 season in which they finished 4th in the debut season before earning promotion to the TNM Super league last season 4 years after its establishment.
They are currently on seventh position in the super league with 19 points from 14 games and they will play their last game in the first round on Sunday against Civil Service FC as they stand a chance of finishing in the top eight to guarantee themselves a place in the Airtel Top 8.
Salima Sugar Company, dumped Mighty Wanderers last month after the Lali Luban Road based side secured a deal with Zimbabwean financial institution, Mukuru.
