Six Primary School Teachers fired for misconduct in Mulanje
The Mulanje District Council has fired at least six primary school teachers in district on issues bordering on indiscipline.
District Commissioner for Mulanje Stallichi Mwambiwa told said the six have been fired on absconding from their duties and immoral behaviors.
“This should serve as a warning to some public officers in the district and civil service is a serious business and as a council we will not tolerate indiscipline,” said Mwambiwa.
One of the fired teachers Lemson Lazaro whose dismissal letter is circulating on social media described government’s action as unfair saying he left Malilima School some time back and the past two terms he was teaching at Mitochi Primary School in the same district.
“Let’s stop it here but I will challenge this action,” said Lazaro.
And in Mangochi, the District Commissioner Raphael Piringu has suspended twenty primary school teachers for absconding work and using fake transfer letters to change duty stations.
He said eight more have been summoned to appear before the Appointment and Disciplinary Committee on similar cases.
