CAF B Coaching Course Starts today, 30 Coaches to attend
The first CAF B coaching course since 2016 after CAF stopped it starts today in Blantyre Chiwembe.
Football Association of Malawi, FAM Technical Director Benjamin Kumwenda, 30 local coaches with CAF C licenses will take part in the course will run through to August 30, 2022.
“We had advertised that we needed coaches with CAF C Coaching Licence to take part in the course and after going through their CVs, the FAM Technical Subcommittee came up with the list of 30 coaches
Kumwenda added that during the course, the coaches will undergo both theory and practical lessons and the course will be in three phases: From July 7th to 14th, the coaches will undergo the theory of football coaching as well as goalkeeper training and they will be expected to go back to their respective clubs for internship from 17th to 29th July. During the internship, the coaches will be expected to write each training session that they will be conducting with the players which will be marked.
“The coaches will then come back for second module from August 1 to 6 where they will learn the theory of football coaching and laws of the game before going back to their clubs for another internship from August 7 to 19.
“The last module of the course will run from August 20 to 30 and during this period, they will undergo the Theory of football coaching, Sports Medicine and Communications and Media Relations,” said Kumwenda.
Kumwenda further said the course facilitators will conduct practical evaluation sessions for the coaches during the internship periods.
Former FAM Technical Director and CAF Coach Educator John Kaputa, Benjamin Kumwenda and Hetherwin Nkumbaleza will facilitate module, while Eddingtone Ng’onamo, Kumwenda and Maxwell Mtonga will facilitate module two with Mtonga concentrating on Laws of the game.
Kaputa will then come again to facilitate module three alongside Levison Mwale, who will handle Sports Medicine topic while FAM Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka is expected to take the participants through the Communications and Media Relations topic. Kumwenda is the overall course coordinator.
Coaches must pass examinations which will be written at the end of the course for them to be awarded the CAF B Coaching License.
CAF B License is a minimum coaching qualification required for one to coach in the country’s Elite League according to the FAM Club Licensing regulations
