Three dead, 11 others injured in Ntcheu road accident
Three unidentified people have been confirmed dead while eleven ( 11) others have sustained various degrees of injuries after a minbus they were travelling in overturned.
Ntcheu Police Station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Rabecca Ndiwate has confirmed of the accident saying it occurred on Saturday, 2nd July, 2022 during the afternoon hours at Dingisako Village along Dedza- Ntcheu M1 road.
Sub Inspector Ndiwate said the accident involved a motor vehicle registration number NS 6938 Toyota Hiace Minbus which was driven by unknown male driver, now deceased, from the direction of Dedza heading Ntcheu with 16 passengers on board.
“Upon arrival at Dingisako Village, the rear nearside tyre got burst and the vehicle overturned to the far right due to over speeding,” Ndiwate said.
She highlighted that due to the impact, the driver, and two unknown female passengers were pronounced dead upon arrival at Lizulu Health Center due to severe head injuries.
“Other 11 passengers sustained various degree of injuries and were all taken to Dedza District Hospital for medical attention,” she added.
She therefore advised the public to contact their nearest police formation if any of their relative is reported missing.
