Silver target maximum points over TN Stars
The Central Bankers, Silver Strikers are seeking to reduce their gap with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers to 2 points as they target maximum points over TN Stars on Wednesday afternoon at Silver Stadium, in TNM Super League.
Silver Strikers are on position 4 with 20 points from 13 games while Mighty Mukuru Wanderers who played a goalless draw against Civo on Tuesday, sit third on the 16-team member table with 25 points from 14 games.
The Central Bankers who are lacking consistency in 2022 season, prevailed Tigers’ scare in their previous match as they recorded a 1-0 hard-fought victory in Blantyre.
Interim Coach for Silver Strikers, Macdonald Yobe said dropping points at home against TN Stars will not be their option.
He said, “Boys are ready and as Silver Strikers, we need to win this game to add on the points that we already have. With the way, we played in Blantyre, we hope we can get a good result against TN Stars.”
On the other hand, TN Stars are just second from the bottom with 9 points from 13 games and they are coming from a 2-all draw against Civo Service United.
Team Manager for TN Stars Ken Ntuwa anticipates a tough game but warns Silver that TN Stars are capable of causing a surprise.
He said, “We all play the same kind of football. If the officiation will be fair, people will watch a beautiful game. Everything is possible in a game of football. We can surprise them.”
Duncan Nyoni will not be part of the squad playing against the Nguluyawanawambe boys after sustaining a cuff injury while Stain Davie who missed the previous game against Tigers will be ready for selection to face his former team.
Since their promotion to the elite League in 2018, TN stars are yet to get a point over Bankers at Silver Stadium.
In all competitions, the two teams have met 12 times and Silver won 9 of those while two ended in stalemate. Stars beat Silver at Kasungu Stadium 1-0 in 2021 courtesy of Alfred Chizinga’s strike.
Zebron Kalima, Stain Davie, Chikondi Kamanga will carry Bankers’ heart while China Chirwa, Alfred Chizinga, Mphatso Dzongololo, Frank Chizuze are the backbones for Stars.
Meanwhile, the game between Nyasa Big Bullets and Sable Farming has been rescheduled for Friday, 1st July 2022.
Initially, the two set to lock horns against each other on Saturday, 2nd July at Kamuzu Stadium.
However, Sulom on Tuesday night communicated the changes due to the National team’s travel logistics as they are expected to fly to South Africa for the Cosafa tournament.
