Bullets to open 8-point gap, Civo, Ekwendeni away from Home
The league leaders, Nyasa Big Bullets have a big chance to widen the gap at the summit of the 16-team tnm Super League table as they are facing the stubborn Venoms, Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday following Saturday’s Eagles’ draw against Ekwendeni Hammers.
The 16-time Champions are currently leading the table with 35 points from 13 games while the area 30-based Cops come second with 30 points from 14 games.
The People’s Team will be eager to win and maintain their comfortable lead at the top of the TNM Super League log table while Kamuzu Barracks needs three points as they are hunting for a top four place.
Statistically, when the two teams meet, the peoples team do have an upper-hand as they have won 15 times in their last 23 games while Kamuzu Barracks have won 4 times with 4 games ending in logjam.
Kamuzu Barracks’ recent victory over Bullets came in 2019 when they won 1-0 at Civo stadium courtesy of Ndaona Daisi.
However, despite the statistics favouring Bullets, Kalisto Pasuwa, Head Coach for Bullets expects a tough game.
Pasuwa said:”Its a tough game, that’s one team which is in Top 4 of the table and as Bullets we have been trying to put a system to match each and every team we are facing.
“Kamuzu Barracks being one of the soldiers teams, we expect a very physical play from them and we have been preparing our boys to be ready on those type of football and we think this time around we are getting it better”
“As I say, each and every team that we face, will try to put everything, so we are ready for that.”
Kalisto Pasuwa provided positive fitness update on Gomezgan Chirwa, Precious Sambani and Chimwemwe Idana ahead of the clash. He said the trio is available for selection against Kamuzu Barracks
He added that Yamikani Fodya who missed last weeks game due to illiness will also be available while another absentee Alick Lungu is a doubt despite returning to full training yesterday.
The Zimbabwean mentor added that only Erick Kaonga and John Lanjesi are ruled out of Sundays fisxture due to injuries.
“Out of 29 players we registered, 27 have been doing training this week. We have John Lanjesi and Erick Kaonga who are still out due to injuries and also Alick Lungu, he trained today but I doubt if he can make it for this game against KB but all the guys are fit and we are going to select 20-22 players who are suppose to go and do the duty for us in Lilongwe”
General Secretary for the 2016 Super League Champions, Christopher Njeula said the Chiwoko based boys are ready to be the first team to beat Bullets in the 2022 season.
“Technically, we are ready to be the first team to beat Bullets. We have been understudying them, the way they play and we hope that we can do it.
” They are in good form but, we too are a good side capable of doing it.”
In other games, Dedza Dynamos will for the first time this season hosting Ekwendeni Hammers at Dedza Stadium.
Dynamos are coming from a 2-1 victory over Sable Farming while Hammers are coming from a 1-1 draw against Blue Eagles.
Dynamos head coach Dan Dzimkambani said his charges are ready for the game.
His counterpart, Etson Kadenge Mwafulirwa anticipates a tough game but he said they need points.
Ekwendeni Hammers are on number 13 with 13 points from 13 games while Dedza Dynamos occupy 10th place with 15 points from 12 games.
In Karonga, Civo Service United will face Karonga United at Karonga United in another crucial game.
Both teams are battling for the top 8 and they are equal in points, 16 each. Civo have played one more game than Karonga.
