Wanderers in Soldiers Camp as Silver enter Tigers’ jungle, Eagles target maximum points

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are in the Central Region where they are targeting 6 points as they face Mafco FC on Saturday before taking on Civil Service United on Tuesday in Malawi’s elite League, 2022 TNM Super League.

Wanderers who are on a five-game undefeated fleck are facing a real check in their first assignment in the central region as they playing against Mafco who are also enjoying a good run of form recently at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa.

The Mukuru-sponsored team are coming from a 1-all draw against the Second placed Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium last weekend while Mafco used home advantage to whip Dedza Dynamons at Chitowe.

Eddington Ng’onamo’s side are desperate for the win as they are looking to close the gap with league leaders while Mafco are pushing for a top 8 finish this round for them to qualify for the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

Nomads sit third on the table with 23 points from 12 games, 12 points adrift the leaders, Nyasa Big Bullets who have 35 points from 13 games while Mafco sits 5th with 18 points from 12 games.

Stereo Gondwe Head Coach for Mafco said he is confident enough to win the game according to how they have been preparing for the game.

In their last 27 meetings, the Blantyre-based side has been a better team than Salima-based soldiers recording 15 victories while Mafco has won 8 times with 4 games ending in stalemate.

The in-form Striker, Muhammad Sulumba, Chiukepo Msowoya, Balikinyo Mwakanyango, Miracle Gabeya, Stanley Sanudi, Adeleke Kalawole are expected to be the backbones of Mighty Wanderers.

Mafco FC are expected to miss the services of Captain Paul Ndhlovu, Peter Kansonga and Aubrey Chafewa as they are serving their two yellow cards each.

In other venues, Mzuzu Stadium will host the military affair as the Lions of Kaning’ina are welcoming the Zomba-based Soldiers in another tough game in the 2022 TNM Super League.

Both teams have had mixed results this season as they are toiling for consistency.

Moyale Barracks who sit 11th have played 13 games and they have managed to collect 14 points. They have won 4 games, suffered 7 dooms and they have played 2 tuggers.

On the other hand, Red Lions are on 12th with 13 points from 12 games. They have 3 wins, 4 draws and 5 defeats.

However, a clash between the two teams is always tough as they battle for supremacy.

In their last 29 meetings, Moyale have recorded a big portion of the wins with 15 times victories in their books while Red Lions have 5. 9 games ended in stalemates.

Commenting on the fixture, Moyale Barracks FC head coach, Prichard Mwansa said he is optimistic of getting the win.

He said, “It will be tough as both of us are coming from draws but as Moyale Barracks we are playing at home we will do as much as possible to get the positive results.”

Mwansa added that they are targeting to get maximum points from their remaining 2 games so that they stand a chance of finishing the first round in top 8.

Moyale played a 1-all draw against Silver last week in Lilongwe while Red Lions played a goalless draw against Ekwendeni Hammers.

Captain Lloyd Njaliwa, Raphael Phiri, Maneno Nyoni will be the main men for the Kaning’ina boys while Chikoti Chirwa, Andrew Biyo, Royal Bokosi, Mathews Simbeye, are expected to start the game.

At Nankhaka, Blue Eagles’ head coach Eliya Kananji is looking to end the five winless run as his boys take on Ekwendeni Hammers.

Blue Eagles who trail the league leaders with 6 points sit second on the 16-member Log table with 29 points.

However, the former Nyasa Big Bullets coach said the win won come on a silver platter as the Hammers are a good side.

Kananji said, “Hammers are a good side despite their recent struggles. They must not underrate them. We are ready to face them and get maximum points.”

Ekwendeni Hammers who sit 13th on the table with 12 points from 12 games have given their coach, Etson Kadenge Mwafulira and his backroom staff a three-game ultimatum to save their jobs due to the poor performance of the team.

Last season, Ekwendeni Hammers beat Blue Eagles at Mzuzu Stadium 3-2.

Chawanangwa Gumbo, Blessings Singini, Micheal Teteh are likely to be the main men for Kadenge Mwafulira while Eagles will rely on Micium Mhone, Gaddie Chirwa, Sankhani Mkandawire, Gilbert Chirwa among others.

In Blantyre, The struggling Mighty Waka Waka Tigers will be hosting Silver Strikers at Mpira stadium.

The Kanjedza-based boys have gone five games without a point and they will be looking to stun their fellow strugglers Bankers to start pocketing points.

Tigers are coming from a 5-0 humiliations against Bullets while Silver are coming from a goalless draw against Moyale at Silver stadium.

In their 30 meetings between two sides in all competitions, Silver have won 12 times while Tigers have 10 with 8 games ending in draws.

Last season, Tigers collected 4 points over Silver.

Silver suspended their coach, Dan Kabwe due to poor performance of the team and McDonald Yobe was given the role of care-taker.

Silver are on number 6th with 17 points from 12 games while The Kau-Kau Boys are on number 10 from 14 games.

Chawanangwa Kaonga, Stain Davie, Duncan Nyoni, Chikondi Kamanga, Zebron Kalima are likely to be the engines for the Bwandilo men while Iven Mwakapenda, Kondwani Chilembwe, Fatsani Chilikumtima are likely to danger for Silver.
