Chilima Appeals for Patience from UTM Supporters

The State Vice President and President of the United Transformation Movement Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima has requested the party supporters to remain patient.

Addressing thousands of party supporters who gathered at his premises in Lilongwe Area 43, Dr Chilima vowed to the supporters that will make an address next week on the issue of his name appearing among businessman Zuneth Sattar’s bribe beneficiaries.

Before urging the supporters to leave the place, Chilima said in 2020 people called on him to humble himself but he feels that his modesty being taken as insanity.

Chilima said,”2020 tinkanena kuti zichepetseni zichepetseni koma kudzichepetsa kusasanduke kupusa.”

Dr Chilima further said an adage in vernacular language, “ofuna kumwera msuzi, sasamba manja nsima isanathe.”

UTM says its members are surprised at the way Chilima is being subjected to the humiliation of such magnitude.

UTM believes that the issues surrounding their leader, Chilima is a political scheme.

Spokesperson of the party, Frank Mwenefumbo says the aim behind these inhumane dealings is to discrediting Chilima’s leadership.

He said, “We strongly believe that this is a political scheme and malice aimed at distorting the terms of the Tonse alliance agreement and removing confidence in the leadership of Dr Chilima.”

Mwenefumbo added that the party is behind Chilima no matter what circumstances he might be under.

“This whole sage is scam. All this is coming from what was described as incomplete and sustandard by the Dr Chakwera.

“The entire UTM party will rally behind their leader come rain, come sunshine and we will not be dissuaded. It is our prayer that he ermeges even stronger than ever before when everything is said and done,” explains Mwenefumbo.

Meanwhile, Dr Chilima distanced himself from any involvement in corruption allegations and says he is ready to defend himself when the opportunity comes.

For being suspected to have benefited from Sattar’s bribe, Dr Chakwera crippled the delegated duties from Chilima’s Office on Tuesday.
