Student arrested for defilement


Police in Nkhotakota are keeping in custody a 20-year old form four student identified as Mike Chikweza on suspcion that he allegedly defiled a 15-year old fellow student.

The suspect who is from Vinjenje Village in the area of the Senior Chief Malengachanzi in the mentioned district, committed the offence on May 29 this year at Vinjenje Village and he has been a fugitive until Monday this week when police caught and arrest him.

On the particular day, the victim who is a form 2 student at the same school with the suspect, left her house inorder to study at a nearby bush and on her way, she passed at the suspect’s house whom upon seeing her, he (suspect) insisted to go together for studies.

Whilst there, the suspect asked the girl to hug him, the thing which did not please the girl.

Later, the suspect grabbed the girl and threatened to beat her if she attempted to shout.

He, however went on defiling her. When the suspect fulfilled his desire, he left the victim in agony state.

The girl narrated the whole ordeal to her parents who reported the matter to Nkhotakota Police Station where the girl was issued with a medical report form for examination and treatment at Nkhotakota District Hospital.

Medical examination results from Nkhotakota District Hospital revealed that the girl was indeed defiled. This led to the arrest of the suspect.

Chikweza is expected to appear before court soon to answer a charge of defilement contrary to Section 138 of the Penal Code.
