A 20-year man identified Chisomo Kaliya has found himself behind the bars in Blantyre for the offence of robbery.

The suspect in company of his two colleagues attacked Christopher Phiri who was crossing the road at Chinyonga stage after dropping off from a minibus on June 9, 2022 according to Blantyre Police Public Relations Officer, Peter Mchiza.

They robbed of him a cellphone, TNM MI-FI Router and cash amounting to K12, 000.

The victim on his way home after the attack, met his friend who was in the company of his girlfriend and as heading in the same direction. He narrated the ordeal to them.

Despite knowing wat had befallen their friend, the two proceeded by taking the same route.

Unfortunately, they were also attacked by the same suspects upon reaching the bus stage.

Well-wishers who was passing by informed the police officers who were manning kwacha roundabout and they rushed to the scene where they managed to arrest Kaliya.

Chisomo was found in possession of the Cellphone. His two colleagues managed to escape with other items.

Chisomo is being kept in custody pending court trials to answer a case of robbery which is not in line with section 301 of the penal code.

Police are investigating the escaping culprits to arrest them.
