Msongwe ward councillor in AWOL
Concerned citizens from Msongwe Ward in Mzuzu this morning held a peaceful demonstration against the absence of their Ward Councillor, Kondwani Brian Nyasulu.
Team leader for the concerned citizens, Frank Chirambo has said that the councillor has not been available for his ward since last year when he lost his mayorship position.
Meanwhile, the citizens have presented a petition to Mzuzu City Council. Receiving the petition, Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu City Council, Macdonald Gondwe, said the Council will submit the petition to relevant authorities
For his part, Nyasulu disputed allegations that he is not available for his area.
“Those demonstrators are not real citizens of my area,” said Nyasulu who sounded unmoved.
“I am not in any way resigning from my position because I was duly elected,” added Nyasulu.
The councillor further said he is currently in Mzuzu at his Msongwe residence disputing rumours that he is in Zambia.
