Phiri, Chaula for Caf B Coaching Course

Two female football coaches to go for CAF B coaching course to take place next month.

This comes after Football Coaches Association on Wednesday short-listed 30 local coaches to go for Caf B Coaching Courses expected to commence on July 7.

Out of 30 short-listed coaches, Caroline Phiri (Coach Educator) and Karen Chaula from Ntopwa FC are the only female coaches’ names appearing.

Speaking to Phiri who looks in cloud 9 mood, said she is happy to see her name on the 30 short-listed coaches.

“It will be an eye opener for me and I hope to regain more knowledge, I am a coach educator, I will continue to impart knowledge gained to up and coming coaches, ” said Phiri.

After the completion of the course, both Phiri and Chaula will be eligible to take charge of TNM Super League teams.

Chaula became the first female to be on helm of the Super League side last season but she failed to save his team, Ntowa from being relegated to the second tie league.

The highly respected Super League Coaches such as Blue Eagles Coach Eliya Kananji, Nyasa Big Bullets assistant coach Peter Mponda, Civil Service United assistant coach Oscar Kaunda and Albert Mpinganjira of Mighty Wanderers are included in the list.

Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve Coach, Enos Chatama, Silver Strikers assistant coach Peter Mgangira, Former Flames assistant coach Lovermore Fazili, Former Flames Team manager, Clement Kafwafwa, Moyale Barracks Coach Prichard Mwansa are some of the coaches among 30 short-listed.

Two coaches who are outside the country on military assignments, Temwa Msuku and Teddie Kalinda are also included. Davie Mpima, NFCA General secretary said the two are expected to be available for the course.

Mpima added that the select priotised the active coaches.

“We short-listed only active coaches and who are also affiliated to our association, ” he said.

Confederation of African Football CAF Stopped the courses back in 2016 as Member Associations were directed to develop Custom tailored manual which Malawi drafted in 2020.
