Ex-convict arrested for breakings
Police in Nkhata-Bay district, have arrested a 19-year old ex-convict Junior Kamanga who is suspected to have stolen property worthy over half a Million Kwacha at Nkhata-Bay boma.
Kamanga was apprehended following massive investigation which was initiated after the police received a number of complaints about breaking incidents within Nkhata-Bay boma.
Kamanga who was once sent to a reformatory centre after being convicted and sentenced to 18 months for similar offences was arrested on May 3, 2022.
The suspect also led the officers to Mzuzu where they have recovered stolen property including two laptops, subwoofer, flash disk, two smart phones and a Coca-Cola crate.
In the meantime the matter is still under investigations to recover the remaining property.
The suspect will appear before court to answer the charge of breaking into building and committing a felony therein which is contrary to section 311 of the Penal Code.
Kamanga hails from Kaliwa Village in Traditional Authority Malanda in Nkhata-Bay.
